The Idea
The idea for creating a TMD layout came from several ideas:
- I wanted a small layout to possibly transport to local exhibitions and that meant a large station or loop style couldn't be created from the small board
- I was bored at college, and started sketching plans and came up with an ideal TMD one
- I wanted a layout that I could use and play with when I like instead of waiting for decent weather
- I wanted a layout that I could take close up pictures with but not have to take ages making it to that standard
So here I am now, with a board, track and a good TMD plan. Only problem is, I cant fit the layout AND the fiddle yards either side in my room, so I have to have fold up ones.
The Layout Setting
The layout is set somewhere in Central England (hence the Central Trains) and is part of a larger yard. It is the TMD section of it and the sidings are for the locos waiting to be checked out/worked on. There will be a road overhead covering the ends of the sidings (and also the diagonal cut off the board) just to add depth. I will decide what will go at the back when I come to it.
