The Start...
Well here is the first page of the progress of making Ivetsgate TMD. Please keep checking back for updates...

Well here is the first update. I have laid the track down in the plan, pinned it down and have just been testing the track to see if it works fine...
The last picture shows how I have connected the seperate mainline up to the rest of the layout. I have used orange wire to make it look like the orange cabling on the railways.

i have just been doing small bits on the layout which I think is better as I don't get bored. So far I have ballasted most of the track and painted half of the rails. I have also, as shown in the pictures, bought a Peco shed for £5 from a good model shop in Southampton. It had a couple of missing windows and not in perfect condition but it'd good for what I need and looks good after weathering. I have had to remove the fuelling point siding to fit it in but most TMD's refuel in the depot anyway. Also I have made a 'concrete' area out of the front of it using cardboard. I think it looks good but just need to do some inside.
Next on the list to do is finish painting the rails, drill a hole for the fiddle yard, fit the bridge and then start on the road. After that, more detailing will be done....

Just started on painting the rail sides a rusty colour but thought it was very red. I then lightly painted on some Railmatch Sleeper Grime and I think it creates a good effect. Not hopelessly dirty, but not pristine with some rust only on the sides. I still have the fiddle yard hole to drill, the road bridge to make and fit and the concrete in the TMD. As said before, I will then start on finer details, and behind the TMD.
As you can see in the pictures, I have also added a path for the workers. It is made from thin cardboard stuck on craft double-sided foam squares to lift it above the ballast level. I have also painted on a yellow line around the edge just like TMDs have.

Well, not much of an update on the layout, but I thought I would just take a few pictures of my 3 DRS locos and an EWS picture. I may get more done when I get the chance. Hope you enjoy...

Well I got a bit more done today. I managed to cut a section out of the side board for the fiddle yard entrance and stuck the bridge in front to hide it a bit. I have also ballasted in front of the TMD and sprayed more glue on the other ballast that was coming away. I just need to weather it when its dry.
Also, not shown in the pictures, I have started to 'grow' some weeds behind the buffers using the excellent basket liner method. Simply put some PVA glue down, put the basket liner down on top in the shape you want it with the fluffy bit facing downwards and let it dry. Then simply pull the green backing felt off and 'fluff' up the weeds or trim them. Pictures will come soon...

All dried now and back to my room. I have added the pictures of it as it is and also of the weeds at the end of the sidings. I think it looks good for now until I put the road bridge over. Also, finally I have a TMD so my dropped Class 60 EWS can be 'seen to'. Not that much will happen...
